KEYWORD: ScribeCount
My inbox has been filled with inquiries about our pricing. I can only assume this is due to the changes at BookReport. So I thought I would pen a reply to that question as well as bring you up to date on everything we have going on at the moment.
Pricing.
ScribeCount has NO PLANS to increase our pricing or change our tiers. We’ll remain the only KU and Wide reporting service that charges under $20/m for every feature we offer, including the analytics. We’ll also remain the only service that DOES NOT use your passwords to access your data and you’ll still retain total control of that data at all times.
Kobo.
As you all know Kobo has been glitchy for the past couple of months. This was due to them doing a total rewrite of their backend code. This update required ScribeCount to do the same. They appear to be finished with their update and are now in a prolonged testing phase. The good news is that their new code looks solid and now includes data from Kobo Plus, Preorders, and Free Books from a single source. This makes the data pull much easier and less prone to glitches. If you are still having problems syncing with Kobo you may have to make repeated attempts as their dashboard is up and down a lot during this testing phase. Don’t forget to stab the little SC logo in your toolbar to reset the system. Hopefully, Kobo will be done with their testing soon and we can both make whatever final tweaks are needed before we are done-done. Think of this as a “final-final-final draft”.
Ingram.
Ingram made a change to their system as well. While not as extensive as the Kobo update it will require some new code and some testing before Ingram is back to being operational. The uploading process seems to be unaffected, so you can still load new titles, it's just the reporting dashboard that is being updated. We’re watching and working on changes to the ScribeCount system as we see them. We predict this down period to be short.
Amazon.
Amazon made a change to their system, mostly regarding the book categories. This was minor for ScribeCount and we responded quickly. Amazon reporting should be back up for everyone. For more information on the changes at Amazon Dave Chesson wrote a nice post describing everything.

What’s next?
We have the team split at the moment with half of them working on Kobo and the other half working on Ingram. Once those changes are made, (and the rest of the platforms sit still for a bit) we’ll focus on individual account glitches and pushing the long-delayed Royalty Split feature out. I know a ton of you have been waiting for this and it just seems to get constantly interrupted by platform changes and other necessary updates. All I can say is that it's coming, it's super easy to use, and SO cool it makes me want to co-author something.
A Shout-Out to Mark Leslie Lefebvre and the crew at the Superstars Writing Conference. I’m hearing great things from those who attended. Congrats on another successful year.
That’s it for now. I’ll update everyone when I have some news.
Now go wRitE DuH WurDs!
